The GWBN committee held a meeting there few weeks ago, and did a biit of track clearing. First on the Waiotauru track then the Waitatapia old tramline.
Last week, Mike Sheridan and Simon Johnson cleared the benched lower section of the Field track and cleared water tables and culverts.

Meanwhile, a team of Jim Hepburn , John Duggan and Mike White spent 3 hard days clearing the Lower Waiotauru track, to the Snowy swingbridge. Franz Hubmann and Rob Stone also came up to help out. It was hard going over the slips above the river, using chainsawand and Scrub Cutter. in the end they got there and were faced with a 2 and half hour climb back to the roadend.
Hard days but great work by all. DOC are getting Otaki Forks back in shape after the long road closure, and its becoming poipular again with trampers and day visitors.
