The Southern Crossing is one of the classic tramps of the Tararua Range. While the tramp on a fine day provides amazing views and has always been a populur tramp for more than one hundred years. But on one of the approximatley 160 days that gale force winds occur, the tramp can be lethal. As lots of trampers have discovered, some to their peril.
