At Field hut, a fair bit of time was spent, clearing flax and astelia regrowth from around the hut and also near the helicopter pad. The hut is looking good after the Tararua Tramping Club repaint before the hut centenary.

Aim was to cut the Field track to Tirotiro Knob then the track over Table Top to past Dennan. Tramping use of the route to Mt Hector began in the early 1900s, and became popular when in 1921 the track over Table Top was developed by students of the Victoria University of Wellington on behalf of the Hector Track Committee.
