Tauherenikau Gorge Walk

Nic Blair and franz Hubmann on the track

A recut of the Tauherenikau Gorge track was completed. The track leads from the campsite at end of Bucks road to the gorge upstream. Its about a 2.4 km walk on a mostly well graded walking track. Up to three did the mahi on the track, over four days. This is the second clearing of the track, the last, 18 months ago.

The track vegetation clearance was widened, mainly to remove the overhanging scrub on the inside of the track and to provide a better walking surface.

Regrowth wasnt accessive, but the opportunity was taken to widen the track by removing overhanging vegetation. There has been considerable regrowth of the weed Spanish Heath which was cut again.
