Atiwhakatu hut is located in the Atiwhakatu valley and is within an easy walk of the Holdsworth roadend. The hut is managed by the department of Conservation and has sleeping capacity for 26 persons. The hut was initially built to accommodate 10 persons but was extended later by DOC.
The hut is a Standard hut and hut fees are required. DOC plans to introduce hut booking for this hut in May 2021, for stays that require bookings from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022. The hut is popular with family groups and is located on the Powell-Jumbo tramping circuit.
